Rodin4D arrives in China!
Here is the translation of an article published in the "International Rehabilitation Engineering & Devices" chinese magazine, where the REHA Company talks about the progress of CADCAM in China thanks to Rodin4D.
VIRTUAL REALITY AND REMOTE MILLING PRODUCTION THROUGH CADCAM SYSTEM
P&O rectification and manufacturing requires experience and skill in hand craft making in order to make a good fitting. And also it takes a long time an accuracy by using the traditional method with plaster cast. In Europe, Hong Kong, Taiwan, numerous hospitals and clinics are using this CADCAM system and remote carver.
So since 2010, the company REHA introduces Rodin4D technology into China.
This system is using 3D technology to acquire the model, without requiring any contact with the patient, avoiding inconvenience and uncomfortable feelings with the plaster. By using this laser scanner, you obtain a 3D model of the patient and then transfer this digital data through the Internet to the production centre. From there, experienced technicians can fine tune the rectification.
The traditional process became now digital. In general, it takes only 10minutes to finish to rectify a model which is only 1/10th of the time of the traditional way. The software can also handle Dicom and CT scan interacting with the 3D shape in order to help to the rectification.
Rodin4D of course requires the experience of the CPO in order to modify the 3D model. When the rectification is done, the file is sent to the milling center and within 30minutes, the positive model is complete and need only to be finished (straps, etc...)
Right now, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan clinics and hospitals are using this system to produce body jackets, AK/BK, and is more than well accepted by the patient. In China, the beginning of the 12th "5 years plans" * will means a big development of the rehabilitation and disabled people field. REHA is taking this opportunity to develop and import this type of new rehabilitation products and technologies in order to upgrade the level of rehabilitation and improve the patient life and comfort.
* in the 1949, China decided to schedule different topic of development of 5 years duration each. The next cycle will start in 2012 and will include Rehabilitation.
